shedding

While I was feeding Kya and Rocky yesterday,I noticed a lot of clumps of fur on them.I freaked out thinking there was something wrong with our babies.I immediately called David and told him about it.He then told me that was normal for dogs and its called shedding and that they just need to be brushed.I'm sorry I didn't know about that before.lol.Shedding is a natural loss of hair of dogs and will allow new coat to come in.Therefore, its good and nothing to be worried about.Right after our short talk,i headed to Wal-mart and got a shedding brush.
I really wanted to take a picture of me brushing them but nobody could not unless one of them (Kya or Rocky) will realize where the push button is.lol.
So,yea,i had good time with them yesterday and i bet they did too especially Kya who i thought didnt want me to stop at all.

now i know

When i posted before about the Identity Crisis of my cat,I was really clueless as to why she is like that. But after some research and readings,i found this useful article that had helped me understand somehow my cat's identity.

"The Manx breed originated on the Isle of Man (hence the name), where they are common. They are called stubbin in the Manx language. They are an old breed, and tail-less cats were common on the island as long as three hundred years ago. The tail-lessness arises from a genetic mutation that became common on the island (an example of the Founder effect). The Manx tail-less gene is dominant and highly penetrant; kittens from Manx parents are generally born without any tail. Having two copies of the gene is lethal and kittens are usually spontaneously aborted before birth.[1][2] This means that tail-less cats can carry only one copy of the gene. Because of the danger of having two copies of the tail-less gene, breeders have to be careful about breeding two tail-less Manxes together.[3] Problems can be avoided by breeding tail-less cats with tailed ones and this breeding practice is responsible for the decreasing occurrence of spinal problems in recent years.

There are various legends that seek to explain why the Manx has no tail. In one of them, Noah closed the door of the ark when it began to rain and accidentally cut off the Manx's tail, who'd been playing and almost got left behind.[4] Another legend claims that the Manx is the offspring of a cat and a rabbit which is why it has no tail and rather long hind legs. In addition, they move with more of a hop than a stride, like a rabbit. This legend was further reinforced by the Cabbit myth. Recent postcards on the Isle of Man depict a cartoon scene of a cat's tail being run over and removed by a motorbike, because motorbike racing is popular on the Island.
"

Some of the above theories are kinda funny i think but who knows that might be the real answer to my questions.Have a nice guys!

presenting baby # 3

Having two big dogs in our house ain't that easy. But the happiness and joy that these pets bring is unexplainable.Couple days ago i posted an entry about Tailie , felt guilty and then wrote something about
Kya.This time it'll be about their big brother,Rocky.
Rocky is just a couple days older than Kya but he protects her and us so good.He is also a pure breed German Shepherd just like Kya.My husband rescued him from his previous mean owner when he was just one year old.He was hesitant at first thinking that Kya,the lil brat might get jealous BUT he was wrong.Kya just love him to death the first time she saw him. They've gotten along so well since then except for some attention jealousy here and there.
When we first had Tailie,we were scared too that Rocky might get her but he was nice to her too.My husband can't even believe it since these dogs are known to hate cats with a passion but they welcomed Tailie and has been nice to her.
Here's a lil more info about our baby boy.

He loves to play with water. He thinks he can catch it but there's just no way.*lolHe also loves to play with ball just like Tailie but his is a basketball. You'll throw it in the air and he'll try to catch it and bring it back to you.

And lastly,he loves going for a ride and as a matter of fact i just gave him one earlier. Well, y'all now know how good and pretty are my companions here when hubby's not around. It may not be all the time that i can depend on my friends nor neighbors but my babies are just here all the time.Hence the saying "They are man's bestfriend".

Have a good day folks.
